It has a particularly complex system of funerary chambers. Like its neighbours, with its temples, road and three small satellite pyramids, Mykerinos was a funerary complex. The attention to detail is not as it is on the earlier pyramid. Menkaure' was the successor to Chephren. The pyramid was not complete when Menkaure died. Shepseskaf, who was Menkaure's son, finished the pyramid. The granite encasement was never finished. The pyramid stands 66.5m high, which is much smaller than the other two pyramids at Giza. Find out more about the chamber of Mycerinus or its also called Mankaure, which was located in the lower floor, its walls were covered with granite, as well as the construction of Mycerinus had to have a well prepared rock subsurface, especially around its northern west corner. The statue has come to symbolize strength and wisdom. The statue consists of about 2,000 limestone blocks and although the date of its constructions is uncertain, the head of the Sphinx is believed to be that of the Pharaoh Khafre. This temple served definitely two functions: First, it was used for the purification of the mummy of the king before its burial. Second, it was used for making the Mummification process of the king.
